First edition of this tract promoting Cameralism, taking as a case study the administration of farms and villages in the Duchy of Lauenberg, of which the author was Vice Land Marshal. The work focuses on the economic implications of the abolition of serfdom in the 1780s. The Cameralism of the early 19th century had moved away from the small-scale "oekonomie" of its earlier application and further into the realm of an ideology. It proved challenging, however, to abstract the practice into a framework, lending authority to "worked example" texts such as the present book. Friedrich Franz von Bülow (1788-1848) was a member of a minor branch of the Mecklenburg noble family of the same name and worked as a land auditor and councillor.
