Often cited as one of the earliest novels of the Beat and hipster scene, predating Kerouac's On the Road, it is a key book for collectors of Beat Generation and mid-century American literature. Published by New Directions (James Laughlin), New York, copyright 1952, manufactured by the Vail-Ballou Press. Black cloth boards in the original price-intact dust jacket with its dramatic crowd illustration on the front panel and a full author photograph on the back panel. Condition Book: Good overall. Dust Jacket: Good overall, price intact. Two pieces of tape affixed to the back, apparently by a previous owner to reinforce weak areas. Now protected in a new, removable Brodart archival sleeve (not taped to the jacket). Size: 8vo; 192 pages. We ship fast!
