Pelecanos’s second published novel and the second book featuring Nick Stefanos, following his debut novel A Firing Offense. Set against the streets, bars, neighborhoods, and criminal underworld of the Washington, D.C. area, the novel follows Nick Stefanos after he has obtained his private investigator’s license. When an old high school friend asks for help locating his missing wife, Stefanos becomes involved in an investigation that takes him through a darker world of betrayal, drugs, violence, friendship, and loss. The novel is an early example of the hard-boiled urban crime fiction for which Pelecanos became widely known and is one of the scarcer early books in the Nick Stefanos series. Specialist rare-book dealers specifically identify Nick’s Trip as the second and scarcest book in the series. This copy is signed directly by George P. Pelecanos on the title page.
