4to. 3-pages, a manuscript poem of 88 long lines, signed at the end “Cambridge, May 11th 1831 / Joseph Story” not in Story’s hand, but a contemporary fair copy . A poignant lament on the death of Story’s 9-year old daughter Louisa 1821-1831 , one of a number of early deaths for Story’s loved ones; his first wife died shortly after their 1805 marriage, two months after the death of his father, and five of his seven children did not make it to adulthood.
