Untitled Character Illustration. An original illustration by Tim Burton, of an unnamed character resembling Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Illustration has always been the origin-point of Burton's creative output. His oeuvre has been interspersed with animation work since his first professional short film Vincent in 1982, produced when he working as an illustrator at Disney.In a recent interview with the BFI, Burton talked about his influences: "I was a big Dr Seuss fan, I liked Edward Gorey... some of the Edgar Allen Poe stuff of Arthur Rackham, there's certain artists that had a beautiful line to them".This copy is from the collection of Murray A. Harris (1910-1997), a collector of original illustrations since 1926, with his ink ownership stamp to verso.
