Crow. Signed limited edition, number 91 of 400 copies, signed by Hughes and Baskin on the colophon. This limited edition of "Crow" was published on 10 December 1973, three years after the standard trade edition, and includes both the seven poems added to the augmented sixth printing of 1972, as well as three additional poems exclusive to this edition. Sagar and Tabor mention an additional copy lettered 'A', and notes that other lettered copies may exist. The 'A' copy was displayed at a retrospective exhibition of the work of the calligrapher, typographer, and type designer Berthold Wolpe, who designed the volume and the type used (Wolpe was largely responsible for the extraordinary post-war visual profile of Faber books).Crow was mostly written between 1966 and 1969, following a barren period after the death of his estranged wife Sylvia Plath. The collection marked a literary shift for Hughes, in which he abandoned many of his previous poetic devices. Hughes later described the work as his masterpiece.
