The Trembling of a Leaf. First British edition, from the sheets of the American first edition, which was published in the same year. The collection contains eight short stories including "Rain". The stories were inspired by Maugham's travels in the Pacific between 1916 and 1917. Several of the characters are based on fellow passengers and sailors he met during his trip.
