This work was designed and formatted in 2023 by Slatkine printers in Geneva (Switzerland) Printed by Atar Toto Presses SA (Geneva) Information from the back cover: "Located near the city of Vevey, the Hauteville estate is a remarkable example of 18th century noble architecture in Switzerland's French-speaking canton of Vaud. The estate was acquired in 1760 by Pierre-Philippe Cannas, former director of Lyon's coach services, who then considerably enlarged the castle. Cannac hired a French architect for the renovation work and an artist to create trope-l'oeil architectural decor across the building's facades. At the end of the 18th century, the castle passed over to the Grand family, bankers from Vaud who were ennobled by the King of France. Over the next hundred years, various landscaping projects were carried out. In 2019, the American university of Pepperdine purchased Hauteville Castle for is Swiss campus, breathing new life into the estate in line with the spirit of the historical site. Registered as a cultural property of national significance, the castle and its grounds were classified a Historical Monument, also in 2019, a process which enabled Pepperdine to undertake large scale restorations.
