Inspired by Jules Verne's Journey to the Moon, it was originally published as a serial in The Strand Magazine in 1900 and first published in book form in New York, one month before the London edition. First UK edition, first impression; 8vo (200 x 145 mm)); 12 full-page illustrations by Claude Shepperson, plate opposite p. 137 repaired and reinserted by not affecting actual image. occasion spotting and browning but mostly confined to blank margins; publisher's blue cloth gilt, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, browning to endpapers, a little rubbed and bumped at extremities, otherwise very good.
