Empty Mirror: Early Poems by Allen Ginsberg, with an introduction by William Carlos Williams. First edition, published in 1961 by Totem Press in association with Corinth Books, New York. Original stapled paperback with the $1.25 cover price and the brush-painted enso cover design. Empty Mirror gathers Ginsberg's earliest poems, written in the late 1940s and early 1950s, before Howl. Williams, Ginsberg's mentor from Paterson, New Jersey, wrote the introduction, which makes this slim book a meeting point of two major American poets. Totem Press was LeRoi Jones's (Amiri Baraka's) small press, and its books with Corinth are key small-press artifacts of the Beat era. Condition: Very Good.
