The fire forever changed how schools were constructed & the use of crash bars on doors, fire-fighting equipment, alarms, sprinklers, etc, in schools in America & worldwide. This forever affected the lives of the survivors & town. The story begins when Susan opens an antique show selling an old desk. Intuition tells her it's special, but she doesn't know how. The story reverts 100 years to Ebb, cabinet maker, who has fled with family to Lake County. Ebb was at the Great School Fire. Certain community leaders blamed him for its start...were they right?
