Beautifully illustrated throughout with hundreds of period engravings and illustrations, along with historical and statistical charts. This copy also retains its impressive fold-out color map of the United States. Features a striking blue-gray pictorial cloth binding with gilt and black decoration and a laboratory/scientific scene on the front cover. Published in 1901, making this book approximately 125 years old. Antique condition with expected age-related wear, including rubbing and fraying to the cover edges and corners, age toning and other signs of use. Please examine photos carefully for condition. Overall, a wonderfully visual surviving example of an early-20th-century illustrated encyclopedia.
