Celtic Wonder-Tales. First edition of this folklore collection, illustrated by Maud Gonne, and retold by the Irish mystic and mythographer Ella Young, whose versions are "somewhat transmuted by her unique mystical perspective" (DIB).Young (1867-1956) and Gonne were founding members of Inghinidhe na hÉireann ("Daughters of Ireland"), alongside writers such as Alice Furlong and Ethna Carbery. Young left Ireland in 1925 following the Civil War and settled in America, where she lectured on mythology and Irish literature.
