SOME ACCOUNT OF THE LIFE AND SERVICES OF WILLIAM BLOUNT. The author's copy, with Wright's bookplate laid in. A defense of the life and shamed career of William Blount, signer of the Constitution, delegate to the Constitutional Convention, first Senator from the new state of Tennessee in 1796, and large-scale land speculator. It is because of this latter activity that Blount was eventually expelled from the U.S. Senate. Blount remained popular in his home state, eventually rising to Speaker of the Tennessee State Senate, though his national reputation was mud.
