The City of the Soul. Second edition, inscribed by the author on the half-title, "To George Viereck, from his friend, the author, Alfred Douglas. June 1902". Viereck (1884-1962) was a poet and journalist. He was a Nazi propagandist and was imprisoned for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act during the Second World War. His poetry consciously imitated Oscar Wilde's flamboyant style and he published German translations of Wilde's verse.This second edition was printed in December 1899; the first was printed in May of the same year.
