Our Game. First edition, second impression, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, "Dear Kit - now you have to read it again. Love, David alias John le Carré". Kathleen Wedgwood "Kit" Coryton was a friend and valued proof-reader of le Carré and his works. The second impression was the first to be issued in the UK.Coryton (1916/17-2009) frequently hosted le Carré at Pentillie Castle, Cornwall, which the author described as "a splendid Cornish castle near Saltash" in The Secret Pilgrim (1991, p. 258). The inscription in this copy alludes to his practice of presenting her with proof copies to gain her thoughts during the drafting stages.Le Carré halted the first impression and exported existing copies abroad over his dislike of the jacket design. This second impression was produced for the British market with an updated jacket design.
