The School for Scandal. The unauthorised Dublin edition, produced from a copy Sheridan sent to his sister, Alicia Le Fanu. She sold it to a Dublin theatre manager for 100 guineas. The play was first performed in London at the Drury Lane Theatre on 8 May 1777. Sheridan revised the text repeatedly. Several unauthorised editions were published in his lifetime.
