First edition of this pamphlet promoting the physiocratic single tax and a free grain market to restore "natural" bread prices during the poor harvests of the 1760s. It followed the success of Baudeu's publication the previous year that argued for the widespread adoption of cheap mills, which was acted on by Mirabeau.Baudeu (1730-1792) was a canon and teacher of theology at the Abbey of Chancelade before being called to Paris. He founded the journal Ephémérides du Citoyen in 1765 and after an overnight conversion to physiocracy after meeting Dupont de Nemours the following year, used it to publish on the topic until his death.
