Up for sale is a highly collectible first edition copy of "The Charlottesville Tapes," published by Rizzoli in 1985. The book is in overall very good vintage condition from a single owner. Comes from a non-smoking home. Spine: Spine has light scuffing toward the top where the title is, but the spine is completely uncreased. Some fading consistent with age. Cover: Striking two-color cover graphic featuring spot red typography over black-and-white photography. Ivory toned originally, now showing minor, expected age-toning and light rectangular sun-fading shadows on the covers (as shown in photos). The aging shows as a light amber in the areas that received more light exposure. Cover corners show a little softness but no folds or rips. Edges are in very good condition. Because the cover is made from a rough, unlaminated cardstock, the raised grain of the paper has naturally accumulated a light handling patina over the decades, as shown in the close-ups. Interior pages: clean, tight, unbent, and unmarked, save for a small, likely erasable lightly penciled price on the first page (original pricing in 1985, $25). Exceptionally sharp and crisp for its age with no heavy wear. There is faint discoloration on the top outside page edges, shown in photo. Perfect addition to any serious architecture or design library.
