A 1959 General Catalog from the Maid of Scandinavia Co. based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The cover features a vintage photograph of a woman baking in a mid-century kitchen, highlighting the company's specialization in cake decorating equipment, baking supplies, and unique homemaking gifts. Complete catalog with order form. Following World War II, brothers H. David Dalquist and Mark Dalquist founded a small company called Plastics for Industry in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1948, responding to the needs of the region's large Scandinavian immigrant population, they developed a cast-aluminum pattern for a traditional Krumkake iron (a thin Norwegian wafer cookie press). They quickly expanded into other specialty Old World items like Swedish rosette irons and Danish Ebelskiver pans. To market these specialty baking tools directly to consumers, they launched a mail-order division named Maid of Scandinavia. Occasionally, we're lucky enough to acquire items from pristine, dust free, meticulously maintained environments, but more often than not our items come out of barns, garages, and storage facilities where they've been sitting untouched for years.
