Didion married the writer John Gregory Dunne in 1964, who helped edit her debut, Run River. They would be remain close collaborators for years, working on various projects, including a column for the Saturday Evening Post. This National Book Award-winning work was written between 4 October and 31 December 2004 and was completed exactly a year and a day after her husband's death.
