A satirical attack on Edmund Burke (1729-1797) for his involvement in drafting the ill-fated Fox-North East India Bill which was the first attempt at reforming the East India Company. Best known for his role in constructing the tenets of conservatism, Burke was at the time Chairman of the Commons Select Committee on East Indian Affairs, a vocal critic of the Company, and would just a few years later lead the impeachment of Warren Hastings. John Scott (1747-1819) a fairly prolific pamphleteer and political ally of Warren Hastings in parliament, and particularly attacked Edmund Burke on many occasions. First edition; 8vo (21 x 13.5 cm); modern quarter red morocco, gilt rolled red cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt, all edges speckled red, lacking title, else a fine copy; 36 pp. Picket 1355.
