[ Beijing, Distributed by Guozi Shudian. 1956]. 22 mounted and hand-coloured paper-cuts, each protected with a glassine sheet, plates measuring 227 by 158 mm, together with 5-page booklet on Chinese paper-cuts in general and one with 3 pages detailing the paper-cuts from Weihsin (text in Chinese, English, French and German), all housed in the original publishers folder of patterned boards, cloth-covered edges, bone pegs and textile ties; overall in very good condition with the colours surprisingly fresh. Paper-cutting is one of the oldest and most popular folk arts in China, and can be geographically divided into southern and northern styles, represented here by examples from Hebei Province.
