TALLY PAPER OF ELECTORS OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT 1812 [manuscript title]. An interesting early American political manuscript, listing fifty-one electors by county or district, with tallies next to their names which are then added in a final column. Among the more notable of the electors listed are Charles Thompson and Thomas McKean. In the election, Pennsylvania voted overwhelmingly for the Democratic-Republican candidate James Madison, who defeated Federalist candidate DeWitt Clinton. An unusual piece of political Americana.
