One of the recurring figures, adorned in jewellery and decorated robes, is likely a representation of Lord Krishna who is usually accompanied by female attendees (gopis), who are also dressed decoratively and are sometimes veiled. These figures are seen taking on some ritual poses and are in the presence of prominent floral ornaments that are likely symbols of incarnation, fertility and spiritual purity in this context. The bold colour palettes and style of the ornamentation in the flora and fauna are typical of artwork produced in the northern regions, likely near Delhi or Agra, and probably produced by the turn of the seventeenth century - or perhaps earlier. Single codex in concertina form, illustrated manuscript on thick fibrous yellow card, with 8 contemporary miniatures in the text, 16 leaves, text fragmentary and incomplete, 205 x 95 mm; single column, between 7 and 11 lines black devangari script, some areas highlighted in red, leaves soiled and age-toned, with some areas of wear, hinges split; housed in crude modern cloth-backed board wrapper.
