A very attractive Qur'an copied in a measured hand by Abdullah Zihni, and housed in a fine contemporary panelled binding, from Ottoman Turkey in the mid-nineteenth century. Single volume, illuminated manuscript on paper, in Arabic, complete, additional 3pp. du'a at the end of the text (possibly added later), 157 x 150 mm; single column, 15 lines black naskh, some vocalisation and markings in red, surah headings in while against gilt banners, verses marked with gilt roundels, opening two leaves of text framed within elaborate gilt and polychrome decorations extending out of the text-block, leaves ruled in gilt throughout, catch-words, some light finger-soiling and browning to outer edges of leaves, a few smudges to ink sometimes affecting text; contemporary leather over boards with flap, central medallions and corner-pieces in gilt, ruled in gilt, part of flap lacking, overall good condition.
