Bound in contemporary full calf with raised bands and a gilt-ruled, red morocco title label to the spine, the book shows significant but expected wear for its age. The leather is heavily rubbed with surface loss at the head and tail of the spine, and the corners are bumped, exposing the underlying boards. The upper joint is cracked along its entirety, leaving the front board tender, though it remains attached by the binding cords. Internally, the text block is remarkably sound; the preliminary leaves, including the engraved frontispiece and title page, display mild age-toning and occasional light foxing, but the pages are otherwise clean, bright, and free of any obtrusive tears or modern marks. A respectable, unsophisticated example of a mid-18th-century binding.
