A very rare monograph on the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world, giving a history and description of "the loneliest British possession" in the middle of the South Atlantic. The author, as a very young man fell captive to the charm of Tristan da Cunha as he passed by the island in 1884 on a clipper from England to Australia.
