The Puritan.

£275 · Offered by Shapero Rare Books

A typically visually striking jacket by Lee-Elliott, hinting darkly at the novel's play on a conflict between a perceived Christian fanaticism and the the growing 'plague' of Communism. There are some newspaper clippings relating to the author loosely inserted. First edition, first impression; 8vo; internally fine; publisher's rust-brown cloth tooled and lettered in green, dust-jacket designed by Theyre Lee-Elliott, slightly darkened at the spine with small closed tears and fraying to spine ends, but overall a very good example.
