Two Poets.

£150 · Offered by Shapero Rare Books

rare edition signed by both poets This is a very good copy of a little-known, small-press anthology of poetry by two academic poets, including their dated signatures. Sir Malcolm Bradbury was an author and academic, best known for his campus novels with a slightly darker tone than works by Waugh, Lodge, and Sharpe, especially The History Man, published in 1975. Allan Rodway gained less acclaim in fiction but was a prolific academic at the University of Nottingham, publishing works covering huge swaths of English Literature, especially poetry, including an anthology of 15th- to 20th-century ballad poetry co-edited with Vivian de Sola Pinto. Their poetry is lyrical and intelligent, coming together well to form this charming edition. First edition, signed by both authors on front free endpaper; 8vo (22 x 14 cm); publisher's cream wrappers lettered in black, a very good copy lightly faded on spine and upper cover; 48pp.
