The Gentleman from San Francisco and Other Stories. First edition in English, Roger Senhouse's copy, with his book label on the front pastedown and a loosely inserted page of his handwritten notes. A member of the Bloomsbury Group, Senhouse (1899-1970) was a publisher and the co-owner of Secker & Warburg during the period it published George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm. He was also the last lover of Lytton Strachey. This copy has the erratum slip, noting that the first story was translated by Koteliansky and D. H. Lawrence, but "owing to a mistake Mr. Lawrence's name has been omitted from the title page". The remaining three stories were translated by Koteliansky and Leonard Woolf.
