The Peacemaker. First edition. Forester's foray into science fiction was also his final work with a contemporary setting. It concerns a disaffected maths teacher with misguided pacifist ideals, who causes societal disturbance with his invented contra-magnetic machine, which renders electric equipment defunct. In 1948, the story was reprinted in the magazine series Famous Fantastic Mysteries.
