With usual good wishes, Edgar, 12/1/60".Mittelholzer (1909-1965) called the experimental style of Latticed Echoes the "Leitmotiv technique", taking inspiration from Wagner. Born in British Guiana, Mittelholzer is considered the first professional Caribbean novelist to publish in English. He moved to London in 1947 and met Leonard Woolf, who published his A Morning At The Office (1950) at the Hogarth Press.The set includes one of his greatest achievements, the Kaywana trilogy. The historical fiction series spans hundreds of years of Guyana's past and comprises the novels Children of Kaywana, The Harrowing of Hubertus, and Kaywana Blood. Mittelholzer wrote prolifically and this set contains eight of the 13 novels he published with Secker & Warburg between 1952 and 1961.
