unique dust-jackets by Robert Andrew Parker A selection of works by Vladimir Nabokov from the library of the American artist Robert Andrew Parker, including thirteen volumes in his distinctive hand-designed dust jackets, together with one volume adapted by Parker into a homemade scrapbook containing the serialised version of Despair published in Playboy Magazine. Parker was a prolific illustrator and watercolourist who was best known for illustrating books and magazines such as The New Yorker and Playboy, and painting album covers for artists such as Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington. Included are the first American editions of Despair, The Real Life of Sebastian Knight, Conclusive Evidence, The Waltz Invention, Congeries, The Defense, The Gift, and Ada or Ardor. Mixed editions; 14 vols; Robert Andrew Parker's bookplate to front pastedown of most vols, one handmade scrapbook with hand-sewn cut-outs from a magazine, New York Times Book Review supplement on Ada laid into corresponding volume, with one additional loose illustration by Parker, some occasional light foxing; various bindings, thirteen volumes in custom illustrated dust jackets by Robert Andrew Parker, occasional areas of wear and loss but largely very good.
