Gilded Age High Society (1893): Hand-signed in gorgeous brown fountain pen script: "Mrs. John E. Carey, 1012 Belvidere Terrace, 1893." The Carey family was one of Baltimore's elite lineages, and Belvidere Terrace (N. Calvert St.) was a premier enclave for the city's high society. 2. Custom Art Nouveau Bookplate (1900): Pasted on the inner board is the family's custom-engraved personal bookplate reading: "John E. & Sarah M. Carey, 1900," featuring a striking tree design. 3. The Peabody Vocal Royalty Connection: Boldly signed across both the endpaper and directly over the bookplate is Edna Dunham Willard. A nationally renowned concert soprano, she served as an esteemed professor of voice at Baltimore's legendary Peabody Conservatory from 1916 to 1921.
