Sermon analyzing God's reasons for sending a drought and offering up thanksgiving for his relief of the present Massachusetts drought, based on a text from Job. The 1749 New England drought was accompanied by fires, and days of public fasting and prayer were held in Connecticut on June 9 and Massachusetts on June 15. The people's prayers were apparently answered, and rains in July were followed by a day of public thanksgiving on August 14.
