Live and Let Die. First edition, first impression, in the second issue jacket, signed on the title page, "Madeline Smith 'Miss Caruso'", "Roger Moore 007", and "Gloria Hendy - Rosie Carver". Moore's signature was acquired on 1 November 2015 at the Harrogate Theatre when the actor was on tour with his show An Evening with Sir Roger Moore. The film adaptation of Live and Let Die was released in 1973 and was Roger Moore's debut as 007. The actor played James Bond in seven of the Eon-produced films, and appeared as 007 in more of the series than any other actor.Heartened by the sustained positive response to his James Bond series, Fleming noted to the publishers in March, "I think there are plenty of bullets left in Bond's gun... People do seem to be quite incapable of putting [Live and Let Die] down, once they have started it" (Gilbert, p. 63)."The controversial second James Bond title was the earliest book in the series to suffer a ban. Publication in May 1954 was refused in the Republic of Ireland [and] this act may have helped provide early general publicity for James Bond" (Gilbert, p. 62).The second issue dust jacket both includes the design credit slug on the front flap and positions it on the left.
