REPORTS OF THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT AND TRUSTEES OF THE GLOBE SILVER MINING CO. OF NEVADA ORGANIZED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW-YORK DECEMBER, ... A prospectus for an early Nevada silver mining company, with a capital stock of $500,000. The prospectus, issued just one year following Nevada statehood, takes the form of a report by Warren H. Mills, the general superintendent of the Globe Silver Mining Company, who provides a description of the physical attributes of the mine, located in the Reese River mining district, as well as its potential yield and costs of sinking shafts and smelting ore. Mills concludes with brief descriptions of the Reese River mining district, Lander County, Austin City, the region's climate, and its agricultural resources. The firm's operations were located in the city of Austin, Nevada, about seventy miles west of Eureka and nearly 175 miles east of Reno. The prospectus includes a folding map of the "Washoe, Humboldt and Reese River Silver Mines in The State of Nevada," which is considered an important source for early mining district names, like similar maps compiled by other early commercial mining firms. An exceptionally uncommon western mining report and map that OCLC locates to the Huntington Library and Yale University, with just a single auction record.
