$35 · Offered by eBay

Frank Herbert's Dune, hardcover Science Fiction Book Club edition with the distinctive Bryn Barnard desert dust-jacket artwork. This SFBC issue uses the G.P. Putnam's Sons text and carries ISBN 0-399-12896-4. The copyright page states "First Putnam Edition, 1984"; however, this is the later Science Fiction Book Club issue identified by SFBC catalog number 07683 on the rear jacket and should not be confused with the 1984 Putnam trade first printing. Dune is Frank Herbert's landmark science-fiction novel set on the desert planet Arrakis, the universe's only source of the valuable spice melange. The story follows Paul Atreides as political betrayal, ecological struggle, religion and imperial power transform his family and the fate of Arrakis. The novel won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards and became the foundation of Herbert's Dune series. Condition: The hardcover itself presents well, with clean interior pages visible in the photographs. Dust jacket has noticeable age and shelf wear, including rubbing, edge wear, chipping and areas of surface loss concentrated around the lower front/spine area. Rear jacket has scratches and rubbing. SFBC catalog number 07683 remains present on the rear jacket. Please review all photographs, which form part of the condition description.
