English/Japanese text / Size: 15cm x 21.5cm (Circa) Published in honor of Elmer A. Sperry, a noted inventor and entrepreneur who worked closely with the Japanese in the 1930s. Sperry, along with Herman Anschütz-Kaempfe, developed the gyrocompass. He also invented an airplane stabilizer, a high-intensity arc lamp, a process for making pure caustic soda, and a process for recovering tin from scrap metal. The Japanese section of this book runs through to p. 199, and the English section (a translation) to page 477. The English section has four parts: The Life of Dr. Sperry, The Achievements of Dr. Sperry, Reminiscences, and Memorial Service. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos of Sperry, his family and his inventions.
