The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne Large Paper Edition, number 86 of 160 copies signed by the editor and artists, lavishly illustrated, and here beautifully bound. White's Selborne is one of the great English books of the 18th century, "the first book which raised natural history into the region of literature" (Encyclopaedia Britannica). The covers depict "Oakhanger", the large hamlet adjoining Selborne repeatedly observed in the work, and "Delves House Ringmer", the Sussex home of White's aunt Rebecca Snooke.
