unrecorded variant state An unrecorded variant state of William Nelson's compendium of laws concerning the regulation of hunting and game sports in England, probably formed of unsold sheets from the second edition which was published in 1732. Nelson (b.1652/3) was called to the bar in 1684 and enjoyed a successful career in the court of chancery. Of note are his three-volume Abridgement of the Common Law published in 1735-1726, and a series of guides on the duties of justices of the peace and the rights of the clergy.
