Weston (1861-1940), is regarded as the father of mountaineering in Japan. It is largely due to him that Japanese Alpine Club was created. The first edition published in 1896 was considered an "Important ouvrage... très recherché" - Perret. This facsimile reprint of the first edition is almost as scarce as the first edition.
