The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin for the 'The Illustrated Atlas, and Modern History of the World, Geographical Political, Commercial Statistical', edited by Montgomery Martin, which was one of the last decorative atlases to be published. John Tallis was an English cartographic publisher. His company, John Tallis Company, published views, maps and atlases in London from roughly 1838 to 1851. Steel engraved map, hand-coloured in outline, with decorative vignettes. 270 mm by 370 mm. Some minor marginal soiling.
