The title pages bear the original antique stamp: "БИБЛIОТЕКА РУССК. КЛУБА ВЪ РИГѢ" (Library of the Russian Club in Riga). The Russian Club in Riga was a significant cultural hub for the Russian diaspora and intelligentsia in Latvia during the Late Imperial era. The Author's Tragic Legacy: Prince Sergei Nikolaevich Trubetskoy was a monumental figure in Russian history. In 1905, during the height of the First Russian Revolution, he was elected as the very first autonomous rector of Imperial Moscow University, fighting for academic freedom and peaceful dialogue between the intelligentsia and Tsar Nicholas II. He tragically passed away from a stroke later that year during a high-stakes meeting with the Minister of Education.
