TRUMAN, Harry S.

Inquire · Offered by Peter Harrington

Signed photograph of Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy. Signed on the front with "Harry Truman", this photograph shows then-President Truman and congressman John F. Kennedy during a campaign swing. They are accompanied by Truman's daughter, Margaret, and Kennedy's sister, Jean. The same day, Truman spoke at Boston's Symphony Hall, endorsing Kennedy's senate run and supporting Adlai Stevenson's presidential bid. The photograph was signed by Truman in later life and sent to Dave Powers at the John F. Kennedy Library, Massachusetts. Powers was Kennedy's special assistant and in 1964, at the request of Robert F. Kennedy, began gathering memorabilia which was to become part of the Library's permanent collection.
