An attractive set of this early nineteenth-century illustrated edition of Shakespeare’s Plays in pleasing contemporary provincial bindings, with the binder’s ticket of ‘C. Whitehead, Priory Row, Coventry’ to front pastedown of Vol. 1. Late nineteenth century ownership inscriptions of ‘John Duke Pole’ to front flyleaves of each volume, foxing to outer leaves, some occasional browning, joints a trifle rubbed but all hinges sound and holding firmly.
