Miller's retellings spearheaded the recent literary trend of reorienting ancient myths from overlooked perspectives, often female or LGBTQ+.The Song of Achilles won the Orange Prize for Fiction (now the Women's Prize for Fiction) in 2012, and Miller was shortlisted for the Stonewall Writer of the Year in the same year. Circe was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction and the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award in 2019.
