TOLKIEN, J. R. R.

Inquire · Offered by Peter Harrington

The Children of Húrin. First edition, first impression, specially bound deluxe issue, additionally signed by the illustrator Alan Lee on the title page. Lee's illustrated editions of Tolkien were a key inspiration for Peter Jackson, who recruited Lee as a lead concept artist for the films. It is Lee's visualization of Middle-earth that is perhaps most familiar to a 21st-century audience.Tolkien wrote the original version of this novel in 1910 and, although he revised it several times, he left it unfinished at his death in 1973. His son Christopher edited the manuscripts into a coherent narrative and published them as an independent work for the first time in this edition.
