Neu-eröffnetes Handels-Gericht, First edition of this proposal to establish commercial courts and colleges in Prussia and other German territories. In his dedication to Frederick I of Prussia, Marperger argues that commerce flourishes under sound laws and the prompt administration of justice.Paul Jacob Marperger (1656-1730), trade adviser to the courts of Poland and Saxony, was a prolific cameralist author, publishing around 60 works. "Marperger's works are all very scarce today, partly because many were privately printed and had limited distribution and partly because they were so useful that they were literally 'read to pieces'" (Kress, p. 2).Praising the regulation of trade in Lübeck, Hamburg, and especially Leipzig, Marperger examines how commercial courts and colleges should be established, staffed, and administered. He also examines merchants' rights, statutes, customary law, and European trading practices. The second part contains an expanded German version of Jacques Savary's Parères (1688), a collection of legal opinions and decisions on commercial disputes.
